Nov 2007. Lamu is an archipelago off the northern coast of Kenya. The population is almost entirely Muslim so, even though it is a very poor community and there is high unemployment, it is a very safe community where everyone knows each other. Being an island and so close to Ethiopia, there is also a surprisingly large number of Rastafarians.
